The construction of an RCC column starts with the design of the column. The design of the column is based on the load that the column will be subjected to  the height of the structure, and the type of structure that will be built. The design takes into account the compressive strength of the concrete. the tensile strength of the steel bars and the spacing and diameter of the steel bars.



Once the design is finalised, the construction of the column can begin. The first step is to prepare the form-work, which is the mould in which the column will be cast. The form-work is made of wood, steel, or plastic and is designed to give the column its final shape.

Next, the steel reinforcement bars are placed inside the form-work. These bars are placed in a vertical position and are spaced according to the design specifications. The bars are tied together using wire or plastic ties to ensure that they stay in place during the pouring of the concrete.

After the steel bars are in place, the concrete is poured into the form-work. The concrete is a mixture of cement, sand, aggregate, and water. 

The concrete is poured into the form-work in layers, and each layer is compacted using a vibrator. The vibrator removes any air bubbles that may have formed during the pouring of the concrete, which ensures that the concrete is strong and durable.

Once the concrete has been poured, it is left to cure for a some days. During this time, the concrete get harden and get strength. Once the concrete has cured, the form-work is removed, and the RCC column is ready for use.





RCC columns are commonly used in the construction of multi-story buildings. The columns are placed at regular intervals along the length and width of the building and provide support for the floors above. In addition to supporting the weight of the structure, the columns also provide lateral stability, which helps to prevent the building from swaying during an earthquake or high winds.
